Connection with Culture, People, and Nature at Taza Park
Taza Park is set against a backdrop of breathtaking natural landscapes that carry a rich history. The intersection of land and water holds immense significance for the Tsuut’ina people, which has paved the way for the incorporation of water, nature, and material resources into the community design. With a vision for a deep connection to the natural world and it's proximity to Glenmore Reservoir and Weaselhead Trail, Taza Park has integrated a diverse mix of over 20 acres of green spaces and unique water features.
- Central Ponds Promenade: stormwater infrastructure that helps collect water with a pedestrian boardwalk and views of the Rockies and Weaselhead Flats Natural Environment Park.
- Central Wetland / Eastern Wetland: naturalized wetlands where stormwater is filtered before making its way to the Glenmore Reservoir.
- Dene Greens: a village hub for residents and visitors off of Tsuut’ina Parkway, which can accommodate local vendors, night markets and community events, and features a pet park, a public rink, and spacious plaza.
- Eastern Greenway Park: a 2-acre backyard for residents gentle terracing and park slopes for relaxing and natural play elements.
- Greenway Slope: a linear park connected by winding paths, offering activities year-round from sledding to cycling.
- Pedestrian Parkway: the largest of the public open spaces, this 1.2 km promenade includes two pedestrian paths, each 10 meters wide, tree cover and charming seating areas.
- Stormwater Park: an existing natural area with a pathway along the perimeter and pedestrian access to the Weaselhead Trail.
- Weaselhead Trail: a pedestrian and cyclist pathway connecting to North Glenmore Park, integrating strategic view points and seating.
Taza Park emphasizes public spaces in its community design, such as parks and ponds, to foster connections and establish a social, harmonious setting that promotes well-being. Within the community, four public green areas will feature designated pet zones, ensuring that residents are within a 10-minute walk from one of these locations.
The Taza Park Water Reservoir is also nearing completion, setting the stage for the continued growth of the development. Visitors to Taza Park will see the reservoir as they enter the community, offering a special and welcoming gateway. The stunning design incorporates meaningful cultural elements from Tsuut’ina Nation, symbolizing the rich history of the area and Taza’s ongoing dedication to collaboration and sustainability.
The structure is inspired by a beaver dam, using western red cedar logs arranged around the security fence to create a textural aesthetic. This is symbolic to the history of the Tsuut'ina Nation, who are known as the "Beaver People." The conical shape of the wooden elements also mirrors the form of a teepee, serving as a visual representation of Tsuut’ina cultural identity.
Shopping, Walking and Cycling Through Taza Park
Connecting Taza Park’s green spaces, retail and residential, will be a pathway system for walking and cycling throughout the community. Pathways will seamlessly connect Taza Park to the neighbouring Weaselhead Flats Natural Environment Park and the Glenmore Reservoir. The pathway system will ensure residents and visitors can easily access amenities, and foster an active and sustainable lifestyle.
At the heart of Taza Park will be a Retail Main Street, featuring a diverse mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment that will stretch down Tsuut’ina Parkway. This retail hub will be home to carefully curated options including restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, and daily convenience options. With widened sidewalks, a dedicated bike lane, street level patios, and convenient street parking, Retail Main Street will emphasize walkability and accessibility. Attractive streetscape and landscape treatments will create a seamless transition between the Retail Main Street and residential nodes.

A Growing Community of Businesses
Taza Park is home to a growing number of businesses that are now open, including Metro Ford and Big 4 Motors. A new Volkswagen dealership is currently under construction in the area, and will be the first Volkswagen dealership in Canada to be built on Indigenous land.
Tsuut’ina Gas recently held a grand opening event to celebrate their new location, now open in Taza Park. This is the second location for the 100% Tsuut’ina Nation owned gas station, with the first located near the Costco at Buffalo Run. The first location sees an average of 6,000 vehicles per day, equalling one vehicle per pump per minute. Both gas stations are open to all, not just members of Tsuut’ina Nation.
The station features an innovative point of sale system, allowing customers to purchase food directly at the pump via a touchscreen interface - saving you the time as you multitask and also saving you from the hassle of bringing out your wallet twice! This is the first system of its kind in Canada. The station has a modern design, including a welcoming interior for guests to enjoy. Numerous people have shared that it's the nicest gas station they've ever visited!
Whether it's petrol, coffee (...try their coffee ice cap - it's a delicious way to start your morning!), snacks or convenience items as well as offering diesel at each pump - Tsuut'ina Gas has plenty to offer. This new station will support the upcoming Taza Park community, which plans to welcome new residents in 2026.
The new location can be accessed via Stoney Trail / Tsuut’ina Trail to the west, or via Grey Eagle Drive from the east. Find directions to Tsuut’ina Gas here.
